IWSG - February 2017

Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!
I have four chapters to go in this first major edit of Swing Vote. I'll need to go through it one more time when I'm done and add a few scenes before my editor goes through for a major content edit. After that, I'll have another huge revision to do.

This book needs to publish this year. Preferably in the first half of the year.

I feel like I'm on the editing treadmill.

I work and work and work and work, but I never get to the end.

Will I EVER finish this book?

*head bang*

Ever feel that way?

  1. Yep, editing is all I've seemed to do lately, but eventually it gets done.

  2. Yes, I can totally relate to the revision treadmill. You can do it! You've done it before.

  3. Yeah. Right now, if fact. Keep at it!

  4. All the time. I think it's the perpetual state of being a writer.
    Good luck!

  5. LOL. Don't we all feel that way right up until the end? When the book actually releases? And then we blissfully forget that we ever had those feelings. Sending cheese your way. You can do this!

  6. Hi,
Yes, I know what you mean. I am getting my book prepared to pass it on to my editor in June.
Good luck and all the best. Hang in there. You can do it.

  8. Oh gosh yes! And even when you (I) finally do finish a round of edits, even the final edits final edit, there will be some other project that needs editing. #sigh It really is never-ending. But when I feel like this I force myself to think 'This is all part of the writing world that I love so much.' Good luck!

  10. Sounds like a lot of pressure on you. I can imagine doing my revisions over and over again and never feeling like the story's ready. I wish you luck getting your edits done in time.

  11. Yes! So much so I wish I had time to run on a REAL treadmill! You will finish...we all do! Just continue to imagine that day when you're done, and you'll get through this! Christy

  12. Always. I don't know how people release multiple books in a year.

  13. Editing treadmill sounds spot on. Good thing you have an editor to keep pushing you.

  14. love that analogy - editing is totally a treadmill because you must decide when you're ready to quit or you will keep going and going! i'm bad at the last part of the book, it's usually the climax and i usually rush through it because there's so much going on! i guess that means i like it, right? ha ha

keep going - nothing can stop you, woman!
and thanks for supporting my cradle rock release party tour!

  15. Yes, yes, yes. Most definitely YES. I'm nearing the end of the first draft of book one of a trilogy, and lately, it feels like I'm treading water in the deep end. Sloooooow progress. But hey! We'll get there. Good luck!
