I've had a lot of angst lately because my real life is so busy that it's interfering with my writing. Even when I have time to write, my head's just not in it. And I have two deadlines approaching. Panic!
What do you do to get yourself in the groove?

Two deadlines? That would make me nervous. Use them to motivate you!
ReplyDeleteI'm trying but with packing nagging at the back of my mind when I'm supposed to be writing it's kind of hard.
DeleteHope life settles down soon so you are able to free your mind. Good luck with the deadlines - you can do it!! Wishing you a peaceful and productive May.
ReplyDeleteMaybe this fall when we're in the new house. lol
DeleteTwo? Geez, my ocd would have a fit. Then it would just do it haha
ReplyDeleteI know, right? I need to just knuckle down and do it.
DeleteYou described my life to a tee in those few short words. I want to write, but life doesn't give me much time and then I sit there staring at the page. I hope we both get back into the groove soon.
ReplyDeleteAt least you have a deadline. That often helps me get into things. I work better under the pressure of deadlines. Just take things one step at a time. I've found as I get things checked off my list, my confidence grows. The other thing I'm trying to be better about is taking care of my own physical, mental and emotional health. I actually blogged about my goals in those areas today.
Good luck meeting your goals and finding your love of writing again!
Sometimes deadlines kill my creativity. Another thing I need to fight against.
DeleteSometimes just getting up and getting away from the computer helps. Change of scene. Change in the way my brain functions. Change of pace. All of that helps me back into the groove.
ReplyDeleteI think I need to turn on my software that blocks everything else out.
DeleteTwo? Wow, cheering for you. Taking a drive away from the house for an hour or two helps me sometimes. Wishing you much luck and success.
ReplyDeleteHappy IWSG Day!

ReplyDeleteFive?! Holy cow, Dezzie!
DeleteI listen to music to get the creative juices going. Best of luck with getting everything done before their deadlines! :-)
ReplyDeleteYes, that's a good idea. Shut everything out.
DeleteWhen you have deadlines the only thing to do is knuckle under and git her dun! Remembering to breathe and have fun, helps.
ReplyDeleteAnd cut out all distractions. There are just so many right now.
DeleteI'm just coming off a period of being too busy to get any writing done, so I'm trying to get my head back into the game. Good luck getting those deadlines met!
ReplyDeleteI never realized before just how easily I could be pulled from my game.
DeleteSometimes, just a change of routine is enough to push me back in the groove. Hope things smooth over for you!
ReplyDeleteI have a big writing conference this weekend, and I'm hoping once it's done that I'll be able to focus better.
DeleteGood luck with the deadlines!
ReplyDeleteThanks!
DeleteAll the best with the deadlines!
ReplyDeleteI like to distract myself with a hot bath, a game, or something else before I return to my writing. Good luck with the deadlines. You can do it.
