Um. No. This isn't a post about the medieval sport
A bazillion years ago, we used to love to play a video game called Joust.
Dang, but this was a quirky, fun little game where your character is riding an ostrich, and you have to fight enemy knights riding buzzards. The defeated enemy turns into an egg which will get you extra points.
Then there's a bumper bird kind of round thing, in which you must collide with your opponent.
But you'd best watch out for the pterodactyls.
Do you remember this game? If you don't, what's your favorite video game?
oh my gosh!! I LOVED joust!! It was my favourite!
ReplyDeleteI have never heard of joust as a video game. I don't play too much games as if there are flashing lights it upsets my epilepsy.
ReplyDeleteGood "J" post .
Yvonne.
I was ready to share my memories of watching jousting re-enactments at castles!
ReplyDeleteIt was a different gaming era in those days. I was a Commodore 64 man (or boy, rather). Pyjamarama was a good one. You had to go round a weird house as a sleepwalking character and solve clues to wake them up. Plus it had a bonus Space Invaders room!
I've never heard of Joust, but the first image puts me in mind of Cable Guy haha :)
ReplyDeleteAh, I was hoping for some medieval lore. Never was much of a gamer. I had a close encounter with Pac Man and had to watch myself ever since.
ReplyDeleteGreat post! I remember watching this kid play Joust for hours at the Open Pantry by my house. I think he was going for a world record, if there was such a thing. Man, that kid was like a celebrity in town. Thanks for taking me back.
ReplyDeleteNot familiar with Joust. I did love Mario Brothers and Donkey Kong though, back in the day. :)
ReplyDeleteI'm not really into video games, but Joust sounds fun.
ReplyDeleteFor some reason I think I remember this, but I know I didn't have it. A friend maybe? Aren't memories fun?
ReplyDeletehaha I remember this one, was quite addicting.
ReplyDeleteLOL! How things have changed! :D Never heard of it! Too fun, Donna ;)
ReplyDeleteI don't play a lot of video games. Tetris is probably the most high tech I get in that department. If they made a video game about knights jousting though I would play it :D
ReplyDeleteI loved Mario Party! Me and my brother would play that for hours!!!
ReplyDeleteNever played joust. Currently, I'm being taught all about Super Mario Bros by my kids!
ReplyDeleteI haven't played this game. Looks like fun!
ReplyDeleteMost of the jousting I've read about came from historical romance novels. Naturally, my association with jousting is positive (two knights battling it out for the lady fair is dreamy).
Haven't played joust and wasn't much of a fan of video games. Sounds like fun though.
ReplyDeleteOh my gosh! This takes me back. Funny how even though the garfics have improve most of the game haven't. This one was awesome!
ReplyDeleteWow, that is completely retro.
ReplyDeleteFavorite video game... impossible to say. And would Dance Dance Revolution count as a video game?
I can't remember the name of my favorite Atari game except that it had a sphinx in it and there was a little bird flying across Egypt.
I don't play any games now, but the one I did love was Tetris.
ReplyDeleteYes, I did play Joust!
ReplyDeleteOur local convenience store only had one game and I dumped many quarters into Pac-Man.
And yes, we also had Pong. Remember that one?
I've never heard of the computer game, but I have been to a joust. It was a blast, mainly because I wasn't the one on the horse. :)
ReplyDeleteI've played that!
ReplyDeleteI thought about having a jousting match in one of my novels. Thought wrestling would work better. :)
How fun! I never played that game. I feel so deprived. :( I was all about pac man though. That was fun. My kids wouldn't even know what an atari is!
ReplyDeleteI can't weigh in on this question, Donna. I just don't play video games so wouldn't have a clue ...
ReplyDeleteYou just totally took me back to my childhood! I haven't thought of this game in SO LONG! My brothers and I spent hours and hours playing this game and laughing hysterically. We loved it! Thanks for the walk down memory lane!
ReplyDeleteNever heard of it...
ReplyDeleteI was really good at Super Mario Cart.
And I loved Final Fantasy :)
I don't remember this one, but I loved jumpman! Do you remember that old game? Or pitfall?
ReplyDeleteAngela
I remember it but never played. You got me excited there for a minute thinking you would go into real jousting! Turns out Murphy likes watching Full Metal Jousting on the History Channel. Don't know if it's the movement or the sun shining off the armor :)
