A to Z - Ireland

Nearly a year ago, I went to Ireland with a friend. One of my favorite places was the little town of Cong. This is where they filmed the movie The Quiet Man, and there's even a little museum there.

I took lots of fun pictures because a future book is going to be situated here. It made it an interesting experience, as I wandered around, trying to imagine different things for my book.

Following are some pictures. Did I mention I loved this place?

Cong Abbey

Time for lunch--and the food was SO yummy!

I had to take a picture of this. Like some people have a place on their trucks for rifles? This guy has a fishing pole.
Have you ever had a chance to visit the Emerald Isle? If so, what was your favorite place? If you haven't been so lucky, where have you had a chance to visit?

  1. Now here's a place that is dear to my heart. I lived in Norther Ireland for three years, and have visited the South on numerous oaccasions to see my favourite singer Daniel O Donnell who comes from County Donegal.
You mentioned the film The Quiet Man", well this year Maureen O Hara went back to Ireland and Daniel sang the song from the film with Maureen joining in.
    Great I post.

    Yvonne.

  4. Beautiful pictures, Donna. The only time I was in Ireland was when we spent a couple of hours in Shannon airport to switch planes before returning to the States. Some day I hope to go for a real visit.

  7. I can't say this is on my bucket list, but I've always wanted to build an organic fairy house and leave it in a moss-covered forest somewhere in Ireland.

  17. That architecture looks spectacular. I'm left wondering what the interior of the Hungry Monk Cafe looks like ...

  18. If the monks are hungry, the food shall be plentiful. :)

  19. I visited Ireland once, many years ago, and loved it. Favourite place? Probably Dingle, out on the west coast.

That pub brought back memories. Not been to that particular one, but it looks so typical of the pubs we frequented everywhere on our tour. Great food, great beer.

  23. My sister just got back. I was green with envy, I tell you. I DID get to go to her mansion to mind her kids for her, though. I did murals on her walls. She lucked out all the way around...:o)
