Waves of Deceit

Twenty-six-year-old Shelby Nash wants to break free of her controlling, billionaire father. With the completion of one more project for his company, she can branch out on her own. However, her ex-boyfriend’s been appointed as the new lead architect. She has to find a way to protect her heart from him while avoiding whoever’s making anonymous threats.

Wade Masters did a poor job handling the news about the identity of his girlfriend’s father. Shelby walked out of his life without another word. Finally, four years later, Wade has a chance to win her back. As long as whoever’s targeted her doesn’t get her first.

To celebrate, I'm having a sale and featuring a few others.

Lyn wants to move on.
She just doesn't realize it will take pirates, shipwreck,
and an intriguing surgeon to do it.

Going to a séance was supposed to be a harmless diversion in Victorian England, but for Delia Spencer, it was life altering. Since that day, she has been plagued by fainting spells, while her consciousness visits Elle Thomas more than a century in the future. In modern-day New York, Elle has kept secret the dream-like memories of Delia’s life. As the visits have become more frequent, Elle is confused about what is her life and what is not. Back in England, Delia’s father is determined to marry her off to any marginally suitable man before her illness becomes known to society. But will Delia consent, now that she’s had a taste of Elle’s independence?

Part young adult contemporary romance, part Victorian love story; a Clean & Wholesome story where love is interwoven with tragedy. This time travel novel is set in London, England and New York City. It is a clean romance packed with suspense and humor and plenty of kissing. Science fiction meets YA fantasy meets sweet romance in Years & an Ocean.

Kylee Mansfield knows what it is to be alone. Her dad left when she was seven, and her mother remarried an abusive alcoholic. Kylee finds ways to escape reality, usually by substituting one pain for another.

Things take a deadly turn when a jagged cut shows up on her arm, and she doesn't know where it came from. She enlists her neighbor, Price Hudson, to help her uncover the truth. But Price shows her much more than just her past—he shows her what it is to be alive.

In need of his own redemption, Noah Carter finally confronts his childhood hero, the once-beloved uncle who betrayed him. Instead of vengeance, he offers forgiveness, also granting Uncle John a most curious request—for Noah to work on the ramshackle farm of Agnes Deveraux Keller, a French WWII survivor with dementia.

Despite all Agnes has lost, she still has much to teach Noah. But the pair’s unique friendship is threatened when Tayte, Agnes’s estranged granddaughter, arrives to claim a woman whose circumstances and abilities are far different from those of the grandmother she once knew.

Items hidden in Agnes’s attic raise painful questions about Tayte’s dead parents, steeling Tayte’s determination to save Agnes, even if it requires her to betray the very woman she came to save, and the secret her proud grandmother has guarded for seventy years.

The issue strains the fragile trust between Tayte and Noah, who now realizes Tayte is fighting her own secrets, her own dragons. Weighed down by past guilt and failures, he feels ill-equipped to help either woman, until he remembers Agnes’s lessons about courage and love. In order to save Agnes, the student must now become the teacher, helping Tayte heal—for Agnes’s sake, and for his.

February 2016 IWSG - Negative Self-Talk

Click here to find out more and to see a list of other IWSG blogs.
Purpose: To share and encourage. Writers can express doubts and concerns without fear of appearing foolish or weak. Those who have been through the fire can offer assistance and guidance. It’s a safe haven for insecure writers of all kinds!

Ugh. Insecurity.

A Savage Ghost released last week, as a solo. I added some scenes from the love interest's point of view and tweaked a few other things to make it a bit different. Even though it's been "out there" for months as part of an anthology it's still a little nerve-wracking launching a new baby out into the world. I do have it commissioned already as an audiobook.

What if my readers don't like the changes?

What if it doesn't sell--because that must mean it's got poor writing or is executed poorly.

What if it gets bad reviews?

What if it means I suck?

What if it's just that time of year and I'm suffering from too little sunlight? lol

How do I quiet these negative "what if" questions? Hmm ... chocolate might work.

I think I like "what if" questions for my stories better than for myself.

What do you do to quiet your negative self-talk?

Monday Meanderings - September 13th

A lot of stuff going on this week.

First Meandering ...

The Sweet & Sassy Anthology: Castle Collection which includes my novella A Savage Ghost is now available for preorder here. It's a whopping $.99.

This collection includes:
Dangerous Truth (by Cindy M. Hogan)--a mystery/suspense tale set in Belgium
All By My Selfie (by Jo Noelle)--about a cursed hunk of a Scotsman set in (of course) Scotland
A Savage Ghost (by moi)--includes an Irish ghost stuck in a castle moved to the state of Washington
The Ghost of Dunlow Manor (by Paige Timothy)--has an author who's hunting her muse and finds it through an unexpected source
Rose of Sherwood (by Kaye P. Clark)--is an historical tale set when Maid Marion was a girl.

Second Meandering ...

Got a retreat this week, and I'm teaching a class on foreshadowing in the Harry Potter series. Once I got into preparing my presentation, all I wanted to do was go back and read the books!

Did you know Scholastic, in celebration of the 15th anniversary, has a new set of covers?

What do you think? Since some of mine are falling apart, I mind need to buy new ones. Maybe.

Third Meandering ...

I'm part of a cool promotion to celebrate the release of Drawn Into the Mist--includes a chance to win a Kindle HD7. It's also available on preorder for only $.99.

After a battle with a small coven of vampires at the homecoming dance, Chuck Mc Williams is confident and prepared to use his newly found magical powers.

However, Kelsey Llewellyn, Chuck's date from the dance and an undercover elfin vampire hunter, has disappeared back to faerie. The vampires marked her as their next acolyte and sapped her elfin defenses. Returning to the village of her birth she is protected while the elfin elders work to restore her powers.

Chuck is confused and emotionally desolate. When the vampires make an attempt on his life he decides his only option is to go to faerie for help and his own protection.

Doug, a vampire who owes Chuck a favor, agrees to send him to the land between the human world and faerie by magically drawing him into a painting of a castle. He warns Chuck that he has drawn other things into the picture which will both help and hinder his efforts.

Adventure begins again for Chuck as he is drawn into the mist.

Fourth Meandering ...

You ready for the 20th Annual International Talk Like A Pirate Day on Saturday? Argh!

What's in it for you to celebrate, you might ask?

Hint:

Will you get a dozen donuts free by dressing as a pirate on Saturday?
