Of all the genres you read and write, which is your favorite to write in and why?
That's a tough one since I read and wish to write in many genres. I enjoy any story that has characters I can love and root for, so that's important to me. If I don't care about or like the characters, I'll stop reading.
What about you?
A good story is a good story, right?
ReplyDeleteIf I care about the characters, yes. ;)
DeleteYes, I definitely stop if the characters aren't connecting with me. Awesome that you want to write in more than one genre.
ReplyDeleteMy first series ended up being different genres. lol
DeleteThat's definitely a good point! I like to read many genres, but a story is tough to read if you don't care about the characters!
ReplyDeleteYeah, character driven tales are my thing, too. I have to have someone to root for and believe in. Or there's always the villain to hate. :)
ReplyDeleteI don't always use villains. Sometimes circumstance or nature can be the antagonist.
DeleteSame here. But I mostly read mysteries (tons of variances, though!). There are so many different kinds of mysteries out there that I'll never tire of finding them!
ReplyDeleteYes, there are definitely many options in the genre.
DeleteI agree. I'll take a good story over genre most days.
ReplyDeleteYup
DeleteScience Fiction is by far a fascinating read for me with stories, characters and science all rolled up.
ReplyDeleteI love a good SciFi story.
DeleteCharacters sure can make or break
ReplyDeleteI only read history, epic and fantasy, I'm an escapist!
ReplyDeleteYour blog makes total sense!
DeleteI agree that characters make the story. However, that said, I like most to find those characters in either a historical novel or a mystery. I'm really hooked on both.
