What an amazing trip it was. We tried to get an Uber to take us to our flat the day we arrived. It just happened to be the day of the London Marathon. Nothing was able to get through, so public transportation it was.

I've seen the London Eye destroyed so many times in movies
that it was surreal to see it in person.
And in one piece.
Some beautiful gardens near our flat.
We did a little sightseeing.
Big Ben is another iconic landmark that was dreamlike to see in person.
Whitehall Gardens
Westminster
We timed it just right to attend an organ recital at Westminster Cathedral.
I took this picture before I realized we weren't supposed to.
Don't tell!
We had the BEST Fish & Chips of our trip that first night in a little hole-in-the-wall restaurant. The tartar sauce was amazing, and the chips ... yum!
So what have you been up to? Have you seen Guardians of the Galaxy 2?
That's all right - we snuck a few photos at Westminster as well.
ReplyDeleteGood point that the Eye has been destroyed in a lot of movies.
Looks like you had a great time and good weather!
I won't feel guilty then. lol
DeleteEwww, they serve fish and chips in those nasty metal plates? How very not posh and British :)
ReplyDeleteIs it true that Prince Philip is retiring because of your visit?
Haha. We visited Windsor, not Buckingham.
DeleteSee it in one piece proves those movies lie lol I think you may have busted yourself with the sneak pic showing. Sure looks like fun with lots seen indeed.
ReplyDeleteI know right? lol
DeleteHow exciting to visit all those places and more besides! There's so much history, the buildings so much older. Wonderful.
ReplyDeleteSO much history. It's amazing.
DeleteSounds like a wonderful trip. We won't tell about the picture you shouldn't have taken. Those fish and chips look delicious.
ReplyDeleteVery nice pictures, Donna! I hope to head across the pond one of these days. As for the question--I haven't even seen Guardians of the Galaxy, so that's a no.
ReplyDeleteI how fun you lucky girl! I hope you got loads of story fodder and research done. And of course sightseeing. How cool that you were there for the marathon! I've been planning scout camps and missing meetings...and writing.
ReplyDeleteI haven't seen GotG2 but I can't wait to.Just have to find the time to do it.
We visited London once almost 15 years ago. Your pictures remind me how much I'd love to go back. Have a wonderful time there.
ReplyDeleteTry some fish and chips in other places and tell us if anyone still serves them in old newspaper.
I would love to visit London. Beautiful pictures.
