Monday Meandering - October 3, 2016

One Meandering ...

It's October! I love this month. One of the things I love about living in the Rocky Mountains is the fall colors. Didn't have this when we lived in California. Up the canyon from us is Robert Redford's Sundance Ski Resort. This time of year you obviously can't ski, but you can ride the ski lift to view the colors.

Here's a shot from the lift, taken by my daughter-in-law.

What's your favorite season of the year?
Why?

  1. Nice! Our colors haven't started yet, but by the end of October, we'll be ablaze.

  2. Lovely picture.

My favorite season is whichever one it happens to be when I'm asked! There's someting good about every season, though, in the end, I'm really an autumn kind of guy. Here in upstate New York, our autumns are way too short, though often spectacular.

    1. And that's not a bad thing, Jeff, enjoying all the seasons. There's just something so fun about autumn.

  3. By the way, Donna, I'm wondering how the drought is going to affect your fall colors out there (you guys are in a drought, aren't you?). Here, they're anticipating a less-than-spectacular leaf season.

    1. We've been drier than normal this summer, but we've had rain, and just last night we had quite a storm, and it's supposed to rain on and off all day. *crosses fingers*

  5. Hi Donna! Great photograph! Will you be skiing when winter comes? I'm a spring/summer kind of gal, I like to be outdoors getting a good dose of vitamin D.

    1. My knees are too bad to ski anymore, sadly. But I loved it while I could do it.

  6. Sure a great shot indeed. October isn't a bad month. I'd probably break my legs skiing haha

  7. Autumn is my favourite season too! Mainly for colours like that, but also October is birthday season at my house, four of us getting a year older this month. Tends to be a busy one!

    1. Winter, huh? I love four seasons, but winter isn't my favorite. I'm always ready for spring about January 1st. lol

    1. Yeah. That's one of the things I love about living in a mountain valley--we're at an altitude of 4700 feet. So much higher than when we lived in California. lol

  13. What a gorgeous view. I like spring. In Louisiana, we don't really have much of a fall. I've always enjoyed the season when visiting other places or when I lived in Michigan. It's nice watching the leaves change colors and fall to the ground. Here we go from the dead hot summer to a few days of bitter cold and that's about it.
