FIRST, Authors Against Child Slavery campaign:
This is where authors donated books to people donating to Operation Underground Railroad--we achieved our goal--with two days to spare. Well, with two days to spare, we met our goal! Thank you for everyone who contributed, whether by donating books, money, or helping to spread the word.
SECOND, Vacation
I'd like to say that my vacation to Hawaii to visit my daughter and the kids was a dream. Let's just say that the trip involved:
* a burning smell inside the plane on take off that which delayed our arrival
* calls from work that had me scrambling and turned the second half of my vacation into a working vacation
* charming grandkids who I just love being around
* MineCraft - yes, they taught me how to play
THIRD but not last -- IWSG ... and grammar
Somehow, it seems fitting that after a long blogging break I should return on IWSG day. It will force me to keep it brief.
A grammar lesson from Game of Thrones:
How has your summer been going so far?
Have you taken your vacation yet or are you still making plans?
Awesome the campaign hit its goal!
ReplyDeleteAnd glad you had a good time with family in Hawaii, even if work bugged you while you were there. A burning smell on the plane? Yeah, I'd want them to fix that before takeoff.
Welcome back, Donna.
Yeah. Didn't feel like much of a vacation for several of those days. The plane had to return to SLC where we waiting for 6 hours. Something in the AC had fried. Took 3 hours to cool down enough for Delta to replace the part. But Delta went out of their way to take care of us. I was very impressed.
DeleteGlad you had a great vacation even with the bumps. Too bad you had to work. We aren't going on vacation this summer, but I'm enjoying that things are slowing down.
ReplyDeleteSlowing down can be good. I don't think things will slow down for me until mid November.
DeleteBurning smell is never good. Delays suck too, but better than turning into a fireball haha no vacation here, need money for that I fear haha
ReplyDeleteYes. Even though it was the AC, they didn't know and that's why we turned around. Besides, a 6.5 hour flight with no AC? Yikes!
DeleteFirstly, sorry about your vacation woes. I'm glad you were able to find some fun, though. MINECRAFT .... bah!!! Yeah, my eleven year old spends hours building gosh-knows-what in his MC world. Seems to stimulate his creative brain. Guess I can't fault him for that. I will admit that I have played with him and it's kind of addicting. :)
ReplyDeleteI prefer League of Legends, but that's on PC and my daughter's family uses console game. But her internet was dreadful so it wouldn't have worked for League anyway.
DeleteSounds like a lovely trip (minus the burning smell on the plane!). I wish we were headed to the beach. Our family trip starts Monday and I expect lots of mishaps:)
ReplyDeleteOoo ... have fun! And laugh at the mishaps. They can be funnier later than the perfectly flowly vacations.
DeleteCongrats on the campaign!
ReplyDeleteAnd imagine living at Hawaii let alone visiting it...
I know. Too bad it's sooo expensive.
DeleteWelcome back, it has been a while!
ReplyDeleteToo bad about some of those things on vacation, but Hawaii! Grandkids! Family!
Thanks! Yeah. The grandkids make it all worthwhile.
DeleteHa, never know where you will find a writing lesson :)
ReplyDeleteAin't it the truth?
DeleteWelcome back. I missed you and your posts. Hawaii sounds fabulous. I would love to go someday. That stinks about work calling you. Years ago I worked at one place that would do that to me.
ReplyDeleteThey always apologize profusely ...
DeleteThere you are. Nice pics.
ReplyDeleteI should have gotten a picture of everyone playing MineCraft. lol
DeleteHawaii may be a paradise, but anywhere you get to spend time with the grand babies is simply wonderful. I had my two granddaughters for three weeks here with me. Wire me down but, we had a blast!
ReplyDeleteYes, they can wear us down, but it's so worth it.
