Here are the books I finished in February.
Second Meandering - books I'm reading right now ...
What am I reading right now? Actually three books at once. Two are audiobooks -- I'll explain.
Larry's books are always high action. I love the characterizations and the dark humor, but the action wears me out. Add in that right now he's got super beings going up against each other and it's become action overload for me. For example, one fight scene took twenty minutes to listen to.
That's twenty minutes of two guys beating the crap out of each other.
This is the second break I've had to take with this book. Love the series, but I can't get through the books anymore without breaks. I have about three hours to go to finish.
So I listened to Legion: Skin Deep (see my February list) and now I'm listening to this one. What do I think? I'm still at the beginning. It's SciFi and I love that YA is now getting into SciFi.
The third is an ebook. It's the first in Julie Bellon's Hostage Negotiator series. Started with a bang and is moving right along.
Third Meandering - movies we saw this weekend ...
Finally made it to the theater last week. Saw TWO movies even. One was Jupiter Ascending. Um ... Since I was already on action overload from Nemesis that wasn't the best choice for me. What can I say? Hubby picked.
And talk about a disjointed film. It couldn't seem to make up its mind what it wanted to be. Lots of plot holes.
Then we finally saw The Hobbit 3. It was okay, but I can see why my daughter hated it. There were also plot holes galore, especially in places where stuff might have been edited out--but not completely--so the point of showing something was removed. Jackson had a problem with that kind of thing with King Kong too.
It's a case of - So, why are you showing me this since you didn't do anything with it?
Seeing the movie once was plenty. It won't be one I'll buy.
Fourth Meandering - oral surgery ...
I'm having the implant surgery done tomorrow that I had to put off last month because I was sick. Ugh. Not looking forward to this.
What did you do this weekend?
Will be praying the implant surgery goes well.
ReplyDeleteI did dig the third Hobbit but intend to skip Jupiter. The directors haven't done anything great in a while.
Might have to pick up Monster Hunter Nemesis.
Be sure to check out the first book in the series, Monster Hunter International.
DeleteOMG Bellon stole my font :)
ReplyDeleteLEGION and A THOUSAND PIECES seem interesting
And don't bite the dentist tomorrow, dear :)
Haha. No biting. It actually went well, though I hate the taste of blood. blech.
DeleteHope the surgery goes off without a hitch. Jupiter got many bad reviews so I will skip that one.
ReplyDeleteI'd intended to skip it, but hubby loves anything that's SciFi, even if it's bad SciFi.
DeleteHope your surgery goes well. Will pray. Attempted the movie In the Woods but my 7 month old grandson got cranky. My 3 year-old-grandson was disappointed. He loves musicals.
ReplyDelete"Attempted." So frustrating!
DeleteAwesome you're reading Karen's book. I want to read it too. Hope your surgery goes well. Will think of you.
ReplyDeleteI'm already frustrated with that dystopian society. Of course, that's the nature of the genre. :)
DeleteGood luck on the oral surgery. (I had oral surgery a few years ago. Healing up was a bit of a drag -- I watched a LOT of movies during that time), but afterwards I've always been glad I had it done. Take care, heal fast.
ReplyDeleteWell, I came to work anyway. Too much to do. Thank heavens for pain killers.
DeleteI also saw Jupiter Ascending, and if it had not been for the awesome special effects, my review would simply state "meh". My friend I went with thought it was awesome though.
ReplyDeleteI don't know how you can read more than one book at a time. I would get confused. Hope all goes well with the oral surgery.
I can't do similar genres, but I can hand listening to one and then reading an ebook or paper book later that evening. That's what I usually do.
DeleteThat is a lot of books! Some very intriguing covers. I get tired of action movies too but my husband is addicted to them. I don't mind if he watches them constantly as long as he allows me to read instead of watching.
ReplyDeleteThat works until you're in a theater. lol
DeleteImplant surgery YIKES! I was supposed to have that done before we moved to the islands, but alas the money ran out and I've just learned to do without (that sounds way worse than it is). Can't say that I'm sorry. It sounds dreadful.
ReplyDeleteYou certainly finished a whole lot of books in February. Please don't tell me you also started them in the same month, I think I read one book in February and started another. I'm really a slacker.
I did manage to see several movies in the month though and four of them were Academy Award contenders, although it only made me more disgusted with Hollyweird that they chose one of their own as Best Picture over three other GREAT films (of those that I saw). Oh well, such is life.
Hoe things go well with the oral surgery.
So far so good, on the surgery. Yeah. The Oscars are nice but it's still very much a popularity contest.
DeleteI love the title "Lexi's Pathetic Fictional Love Life!!!" So cute! Sounds like you had a productive month. Sorry about your oral surgery. Hope you get lots of painkillers to make it as easy as possible.
ReplyDeleteAnd it's such a cute story. Loved it. I think it's my favorite of Jo Noelle's books so far.
DeleteI love seeing what everyone's reading and watching. I'd like to go to the movie theater more often.
ReplyDeleteI hope the surgery goes well.
