Let's be real here. It's not like they really had that much to work with, yet I was completely rooting for him every time he was in a dangerous situation. At the end of Episode 4, when he got hit and we're not sure he'd make it, I was stressing out!
That's powerful writing when you can engage someone's emotions so well that they're rooting for a machine!

ReplyDeleteR2D2! Great R choice. He did have so much personality with just those little noises he made. I wanted my own R2D2 when I was a kid.
ReplyDeleteWhen I first saw this as a kid, I remember thinking, "Should I know what that robot is saying?". I thought it was something adults knew but not kids...

ReplyDeleteOne of my favourite books and films - both versions - The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, has two contrasting characters; Marvin, the paranoid android, and The (guide) Book. It's all about the voice.
