Not sure some of you heard about the furor over an article by Meghan Cox Gurdon earlier this month expressing concern about the direction YA fiction seems to be moving.
Robin Weeks posted about it yesterday and has an interesting discussion going on in her comments. You might want to pop in and read Robin's blog post and chime in.
Thanks for Robin's link. I'll check out her post.
ReplyDeleteThis had me shaking mad last night. And I think the comments frustrated me more than Ms. Gurdon's article.
I'll take a look.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the links~ I know this article got lots of people hopping mad. I suppose it's because others (who don't read as much YA) will read it and think the writer's opinion is true. I just read it as an opinion piece, so it didn't bother me as much.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the links. It's an interesting debate. I agree with Jess, that if it's read as an opinion piece its less angering.
ReplyDeleteHey! Thanks for the shout-out! :)
ReplyDeleteYeah, the thing about YAs going too dark. They need to drop it already. Kids will read what they want to read. It's up to parents to filter the material. I'll check it out. Thanks for the info.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Laila, it's the parents job to filter what their kids are reading. We don't censor in this country, nor should we ever.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the link, I'm on my way.
ReplyDeleteSee you later. :)
