Outside my window: Some cooler weather is rumored to be heading our way. The clouds are looking dark and heavy. Awesome. I love interesting weather!
I've been listening to: Pandora. This one of my recents faves.
Weird video but I love the song.
I watched: This week we went to see Guardians of the Galaxy. Loved it! Hubby, who's not a fan of watching a movie more than once (unless he's forgotten it), even wanted to go see it again right away. Fun gadgets, some slick fight scenes (that didn't last too long), and a story with lots of humor and heart.
I am grateful for: A sweet husband who is very supportive of my writing. Oh, and grown kids who enjoy each other's company. And the sweetest, most huggable grandkids ever.
What I'm working on: A Dangerous Reflection. How do you like that title (the previous working titles were dreadful)? This is the first book of my YA portal fantasy. The second book is called A Desperate Deception. Both of these books are already written but need some serious editing.
The last few weeks I've been reading through the two books and taking notes. Super sized my weekend and used to time to finish that, collect the comments, and put it on my white board for reference. Then I moved both projects into Scrivener.
So I will finish this post and get to work.
What have you been up to?
I like the title! Think it works well.
ReplyDeleteI rarely see a movie twice, but my wife and I are already making plans to go see Guardians again. It was just that much fun.
Everyone was laughing so hard it was sometimes hard to hear all the fun jokes.
DeleteI love the idea of your new books. Portal YA fantasy. How cool. And from you and Alex, Guardians sounds awesome.
ReplyDeleteI had been thinking it might be an urban fantasy, but after discussing it with some fellow authors, I realized this was the one that fits.
Deletewe've had constant storms here all summer long, had to get up last night to shut the blinds on my balcony because of an extreme downpour :( One Republic is my absolute fave band ever, and I'm in love with the talent of their singer and composer Ryan Tedder. He wrote all the best songs in modern pop music
ReplyDeleteI hear one of their songs come up, and I immediately turn up the volume.
DeleteWow, you've been busy. Didn't know you were working on YA novels. Love the titles.
ReplyDeleteYeah. I've even got a SciFi trilogy that's about a third done.
DeleteI love the little peek into your life. Sounds wonderful. I'm also impressed by your new title (Hooray! I know how hard that it is. I'm still working on one) and how fast you write. Just a little jealous. Enjoy this lovely weather.
ReplyDeleteFirst drafts I can usually crank out pretty fast, but the story is still stewing and growing so the edits are anything but fast.
DeleteWeather is changing on a dime, but oh well, no snow so I'm fine. Guardians of the Galaxy was awesome indeed
ReplyDeleteAnd aren't you in Canada, Pat. Snow might come earlier for you.
DeleteI LOOOOoooooove One Republic SO MUCH. And that song!!! And hasn't the weather been awesome? Drove back from Vegas yesterday and it rained for over 3 hours! I LOVED it. :)
ReplyDeleteNice system you've got there, the big white board. I'm afraid I'm not so organized. If my printer's working, I print out and scribble all over the pages. Otherwise, I make notes in a notebook or a word document. Enjoy the cooler weather!
ReplyDeleteYou are super woman! Love the titles of those books! You're amazing! Love the song, and the weather. Really want to see that show!
ReplyDeleteYou've been so productive! I'm excited about your YA project! If you need an extra set of eyes, let me know. :)
ReplyDeleteCool song:) Glad you have so much to be grateful for...it's nice when we want the things we have, isn't it? :)
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that title!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the giant anvil-shaped clouds we get here and the cummulo nimbus ones. They gather over each set of mountain tops ringing the valley. Unfortunately our house seems to have an invisible dome over it so little of the rain actually gets in.
ReplyDeleteWhat have I been doing? Camping, teaching Rel. Soc., running, and being sick. And writing and dealing with pictures. And researching honey badgers.
Love your organized approach with the whiteboard and the title is catchy.
ReplyDeleteSummer is more difficult to carve out blogging time for me as well--so many competing activities.
I like both titles.
ReplyDeleteA break from the net is essential I think for balance :) I've set up all my August posts so I just have to go in and tweak them, or add photos :) We went to see GotG - loved it! x
