I had an opportunity to read this book before Jaclyn's publisher picked it up. My thought at the time was this just had to picked up. And it was. The story is charming and imaginative. The idea of a leprechaun stealing a girl's luck sucked me right in.
My father used to joke with me when I was a little girl that I was an accident waiting to happen, so I sympathized with Megan. I loved how determined she was in the face of her adversity. No way was Megan going to be kept down (literally since she kept tripping and falling). Who knew luck could play such a part in one's life?

Very cool you got to read it before the publisher picked it up.
ReplyDeleteDon't you love it when you read something before it's published and just know it's going to be picked up by someone because it's that good? Congrats to Jaclyn!
ReplyDeleteIn on it at first, before the big burst
ReplyDeleteDon't hear a lot of leprechaun stories despite hearing a lot about leprechauns. Thanks for sharing this Donna and congrats on your book.
ReplyDeleteI have a soft spot for leprechaun stories--in sixth grade, we had to write a story that ended "...and that's how the pool got filled with lime jello." or something very close to that. I wrote about a ticked off leprechaun. Wish I still had that one floating around, I remember it being good.
ReplyDeleteBest of luck to Jaclyn!
I love it when a draft I've read eventually becomes published. This sounds like a great read. Congrats to the author.
