Book Launches

A month from today, my debut novel, A Change of Plans, will be born. A month and a week from today, and I'll be participating in my first book launch. Can I say one word?

Scary!

The awesome Jordan McCollum (you can read about her book--I, Spy--in my post here) and I are teaming up together for our launch. I'm so glad I'm not doing this alone. My biggest worry has always been  that I'd have a launch--and no one would come.

I guess in a couple of months I can address whether or not my worries were justified. How about you? Do you worry about this, too?

  1. You'll be fine! And awesome you are teaming up with Jordan. Angela and Gwen teamed up together and it worked really well.

  8. Yes, that is my biggest nightmare too. Maybe I can bribe strangers to show up, lol. I think teaming up for your launch sounds like a great idea!

  12. Great idea to have a buddy when launching. If you forget your parachute, just grab theirs!

Neat book cover there, too, gal. Way to go!

  15. Don't be scared, Donna. You worked hard for this. You have all your ducks in a row. You (and your book) will do GREAT! :-)

  16. You'll be totally fine. And I think you've got enough of a local network that you don't have to worry about no one showing up. Me? That's what worries me. I do my first book signing in two weeks and I'm afraid it'll be crickets. We'll see what happens.

Chin up, deep breaths and talk about the characters like you always do. It'll draw people in. Can't wait to get my copy!!

  20. Hey, if no one else shows up, we can sign books for each other, right??

  22. I felt exactly the same, Donna, and I did my launch for King's Envoy all by myself! (Well, I did have husband and family to help me :-)) Yes, it was scary, but it was also great fun. I think the key is to see it as a celebration of your success more than a marketing opportunity. It's you throwing you a party for having achieved something wonderful. Just go and relax and enjoy it. Leave the marketing worries for later!

  29. I know your launch is going to be awesome, awesome, awesome! I'm sad that I might not be able to come depending on what time you have it that day (which totally and utterly sucks because I love both you and Jordan!!!), but I am always here to help you with whatever you need before and after!
