I hate Captcha! Hate. Hate it!
Few things make me crazier when I'm trying to get through a ton of blogs in a day than having to submit--sometimes multiple times--those stupid, hard-to-read symbols. I've only got so much time, and I have sometimes left the blog without without commenting if I can't get the captcha right.
They're hard to read for young people and it's even worse for old people like me. I cry "Age Discrimination!"
If you want people to comment on your blog, make it as easy as possible for them to do it. Since the blog owners never see it, if you don't know how to turn it off, Shelly and Chad have a "how to" up on their blog today.
Save the world from Crappy Captcha!

As for the progress with my NaNo project, I broke 34,000 words yesterday. I'm quite pleased.
So agree with you Donna. Often the letters are impossible to make out. Sometimes I don't comment when it takes 3 to 4 times to get it right.
ReplyDeletethere is an unspoken agreement between us bloggers not to visit and comment on the sites of people who have this devil captcha business on :) Only the crazy outlanders use it today ...
ReplyDeleteAmazing progress on your NaNo, Donna, keep it up!
ReplyDeleteFor a while, I was having fun listing the crazy captcha words/phrases, don't ask me why. Sometimes I feel like I'm just guessing, and it almost feels like it will let you post if you're 'close enough' (haven't deliberately tested that one). And I don't know why some of them are single digits, and some are three. Bleah.
Turn off word verification!
ReplyDeleteI won't not visit someone if they have it though - that's rude. And I have two regular buddies who've used it forever. Both are foreign and English is not their native tongue, so I have no problem with them using it.
Everyone else - please turn it off!
Captcha is a huge load of junk and needs to take a hike, such a pain in the rump.
ReplyDeleteI agree!! And it's usually on Blogger sites that I have to deal with this. I also find it frustrating that I have to sign in to WordPress first in order for Blogger to accept my comment, but that's another story.
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the NaNo words!!! You're so far ahead. Fantastic job.
P.S. Love the pic of Van Der Beek up there :D

Blogger blocks out 99 percent of spam anyway. I get like two a years. So there;s no reason for Captcha. good riddance!
ReplyDeleteCongrats on your word count! Doing great.
ReplyDeleteAnd no one likes word verification. It's like birth control for your comments.
That birth control comment made me giggle.
ReplyDeleteSAVE THE WORLD. Save us from frustration. Save us from quitting. Save us from feeling like bots.
Congrats on your NaNo numbers!
You're doing fantastically with NaNo! :) And I agree. I hate those captcha things. How do they expect anyone to really read them? I spent more time sometimes trying to figure it out than writing a comment.
ReplyDeleteI'm on the train! And I've been bumping into these silly captchas so much lately. They drive me craaazy!!! :D <3
ReplyDeleteOne thing worse than captcha ... and that's captcha with comment moderation turned on. That feels doubly uninviting to me.
ReplyDeleteAmen and way to go!
ReplyDeleteI hate WV, too, but I've been getting A LOT of spam comments lately. And now they're even bleeding over into my regular comments. UGH! Don't know what to do about that.
ReplyDeleteAMEN, Donna! I hate captcha.
ReplyDeleteIt was an annoyance back when they had the earlier version, but at least I could read the words. Ever since they changed the format, I have a terrible time proving I'm not a spambot.
woot woot foryour word count!
ReplyDeletetoot toot on captchas!
i'm gonna say hetty locklear is NA cause she is 22.
ReplyDeletere- your comment yesterday =)
I'm not crazy about captcha either. Sometimes I go to a site and have to enter the code three times before I get one legible enough to let me comment. Congratulations on so many words. I'm doing NaNo this time, but am so behind . . .
ReplyDeleteCaptcha is the WORST!
ReplyDeleteI definitely agree. Those captcha things just kill me. :S

CAPTCHA is just insanely difficult these days. I swear they didn't use to be so hard but now I think I might be a robot because I definitely can't solve 75 percent of them! Does anyone else here use a CAPTCHA bypass browser extension? I am using one called RUMOLA which enters all my CAPTCHAS for me! Would recommend it if CAPTCHAS drive you as crazy as they do me! You can give it a go on www.skipinput.com. Or, alternatively, everyone could just turn off their CAPTCHAS and make the internet a better place! :)
ReplyDeleteDitto! :-) Awesome job on your NaNo!
