Places
I saw this totally awesome sign on Facebook the other day, and I just have to ask my wonderfully building-kind-of-guy hubby to make me one of my own. While I would include some these locations, there are many that I would do differently.
I would be sure to add the following:
- The Harper Hall (Dragonriders of Pern series)
- Benden Weyr (Dragonriders of Pern series)
- The Spooky Old Tree (Berenstain Bears)
- Prince Edward Island (Anne of Green Gables)
- Guernsey Island (The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society)
- Lothar (Restoree)
- Arizona--"My House. My Rules" (Uncle Jeb in The Host)
- Orthedale
- Lewistown, Montana
What are some of the wonderful literary places
that have
captured your imagination over the years?
What places would you want to
visit--
especially if you could see the characters
you've come to love?
you've come to love?
That is a great sign. I would add something like Salama Sond (think I spelled it right; home of Yertle the Turtle) and Whoville. And then I'd love to see Castle Rock, so long as I could keep out of all the horrors that have beset that little town.
ReplyDeleteLove that sign! wonder what it would take to get the hubs to make it?
ReplyDeleteHmmm I'd really have to think about that one, but alot of the ones on that sign I'd love to go visit.
ReplyDeleteHa ha! I love that. what a great idea. I don't know which towns or places I'd put into the sign. I'd have to think about it. What a great idea for a kids room - even if it's just painted on the wall!
ReplyDeleteLove that sign. Hmm, I'm going to have to make one of those for the office I think. Very cool.
ReplyDeleteAnd I like your new fall banner. Can't believe summer is almost over.
JeffO--I would so add Whoville! *adds to list*
ReplyDeleteBayGirl--my hubby would be game. I just need to figure out about the fonts for the various names. I have a coworker who does those subway signs, so I'm sure she could do those.
Pat--yeah. Me, too.
Laura--I do wall murals, but the three dimensional aspect of that sign would stump me, I fear.
LG--I love the fall. It's my favorite time of the year.
I'd like to go to Narnia! I'd add Shannara as well.
ReplyDeleteYes, Alex, Shannara would be a great addition. I think I might add the Two RIvers as well upon reflection.
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on Prince Edward island! I also like to visit the Swiss family Robinson :)
ReplyDeleteThat is a great sign! I want one too. I'd probably include a few places like Pemberly and maybe something from Neil Gaiman, like The Wall. I love your idea of The Spooky Old Tree. That used to be my favorite book to read to my kids. And definitely Green Gables!
ReplyDeleteNow you've got me thinking and I can go on forever!
J.A. - I've already got a SFR equivalent in my book!
ReplyDeleteJulie - Pemberly!
Ohhh... I LOVE THIS, Donna!!!! How fun! And I've been to PEI... seriously, it's amazzzzzzzing... beyond magical...
ReplyDeleteI LOVE THIS SIGN! I'm going to ask for one for Christmas :)
ReplyDeleteHmm, that's a good question. Seems most of the places on list would be real places, and mostly in the south, like Natchez, MS, and small towns in North Carolina.
ReplyDeleteLove the sign. :D
ReplyDeleteI still have to read Tamara's first book. I'm still digging myself out of my TBR pile. It collapsed on me the other day. :(
I would do Winterfel, a few places from Disc World, and definitely some references to Thursday Next!
ReplyDeleteI saw that sign on Tumblr. I love it. My favorite books tend to be contemporary, so I have nothing to add.
ReplyDeleteI would have a sign post leading off to all areas of Potter verse, and I'd tolerate Narnia and Tolkien places too :-D
ReplyDeleteI'd also have a sign post leading to my fictional namesake, St Mary Mead . I'd love that signpost too!
