A to Z - About Us

Today is the first posting day for the A to Z blogging challenge. For "A" I'd like to tell you something about me and ask you to share something about you.

I am a black belt in Shorei Kempo Karate. I took it up partly because I'd always thought it would be fun to learn but mostly to spend time with two of my sons who were involved in it. They eventually dropped out, but I stuck with it. So . . .

What about you? Please share whatever appeals to you--something unique, something informational, something you'd like the world to know about you. Whatever.

  1. Wonderful post to start the challenge. What Appeals to me? I love to see the squirrels and other wildlife in the gasrden.

  2. Nice starting post, Donna. Hmm. In keeping with Yvonne's wildlife theme, I am not repulsed by the smell of skunk, and actually kind of like it (No, I don't run them over just to smell it).

  3. I'lll have to cal JeffO when it's time to wash my dumb dog that gets skunked about three times/yr!

Me - I'm a horse girl and did competitive trail riding for lots of years.

  4. How fun for you! Wish I had time to pursue a physical activity for a hobby.

My hobby of choice would be ballet. Used to be gymnastics, but then I realized there's no point training at the upper levels if I'm not competing or going into cheer leading as a career.

  5. I'm a licensed DJ (radio kind not dance kind) haven't worked at in years but the license is for life. Would love to get back into radio. I never met an'open mike' I didn't like. First Sunday of the month is murder(for everyone else).

  6. About me. I used to fence in college, and I really want to learn to play the bagpipes.

  7. Wow! That is Awesome! Hmmm...what can I tell you. I am considering learning how to rock climb even though I am afraid of heights. :-)

  8. Will not mess with you, although the cat can run fast. I've seen 1000's of movies, that count?..haha

  9. I love that you carried on when your boys stopped :-)

I've always secretly longed to be a professional singer. Sadly, I hate strangers looking at me, and I can't carry a tune in a bucket :-)

  10. I'm impressed that you took up Shorei Kempo Karate to be with your sons and became a black belt no less! My boys' would've loved if I did something like that with them! They always passed me up on any of our athletic endeavors like biking, skiing or horseback riding! Thanks for following me! Julie

  11. That's super cool that you do Karate!

I did Tae-Kwon-Do for four years in college. LOVED it.

  12. Hi, Donna, now that I know I definitely won't mess with you. Something abut me, I have a weird sense of humor and my son who's hanging over the keyboard, says I make too much noise when I'm typing.

  13. Something about me???? I led a 12 hour dance marathon when I was seven months pregnant with my first child.

  14. Appealing post!

I'm impressed you're a black belt. My children take taekwondo, and are both within a year of obtaining their black belt. I took a different martial arts for a year, but stopped pursuing it. I should get back to it.

  15. I always wanted to learn karate. My son made it to his purple belt before he dropped out at age 8. His name is Brandon Lee. Yes, he was named after Bruce Lee's son!

As for me, my life has been like a soap opera with way too much drama. I've escaped death five separate times. I must have a good guardian angel.

BTW/FYI - your A to Z linky link #1683 only links back to the A to Z, not Weaving a Tale or Two. Not sure if you have another link on there or not. I'd hate for people to miss your posts!

  16. Hello Donna, I'm impressed! About me - I am not quite so active. I like to bake but have mixed success with it, and I also enjoy Bikram yoga. But mainly I can be found reading or writing.

  17. No martial arts for me! I pat myself on the back when I turn off my computer and take a walk!
    A is also for Aloha!

  18. You're so cool! I love this. And I can't get over that picture! LOL. It's perfect!!!
Me? Hmmm. I'm a "city girl" turned "country girl," I guess. But really - I like being a little bit of everything!

  19. Part of me really wants to learn how to do that at some point. That is so stinkin' cool!

  21. Okay, okay! You can have the Y! Just don't come after me with those ninja skills! :) All I'd be able to fight back with is my monkey toes. And while they're handy for picking up things off the floor, they don't quite beat a black belt.

  23. That's so cool you're a black belt!

I love collecting rocks. Crystals, fossils, ones with interesting shapes, any rock really. :)

  24. Oh, this is going to be fun. Let's see, I learned to ride a motorcycle at age 55 and plan to ride all of Route 66 next year...when I am 66. ;-)

For my Z to Z, I'm doing flash fiction, words picked at random, photos found to inspire, then max of 10 sentences and min of 100 words. I love that there are so many different approaches to the A to Z.

BTW, I'm picking out one commenter at random and adding them to my list to follow. Too many to do otherwise...

  25. A black belt...WOW!! You are a total badass in my book. ;)

I looked at my blogger and I wasn't following you, either. Apparently Blogger kicked us both out. Ah well, all fixed now and that's what's important.
