News

The good news is not mine. Mostly. Only one more rejection, and hubby and I get to go out to dinner. I'm ready! Though I got a very positive, personalized rejection that was very encouraging. Never hurts when agents say they would like to see your next project.

The good news is about Nancy Thompson who got a book deal! You can check out the details on her blog.

So, have you heard any good news lately?

  2. Yum! Where are you going to eat?

I'm with Jessie. I'm a firm believer that we just keep trying and we'll get ours one day.

  5. NICE about your personal rejection! Way better than a standard "no" that tells you nothing. So boo but yeay!

No huge news here. Great about her book deal, though! Whoo!

  6. Fab news about the book deal, but not about your news.

My good news is I've managed 1233 words today, so far. What can I do in the last 4 1/2 hours of the day?

    Keep going.

  8. My good news is that I finally found a place that sellsPEZ candy after trying two stores that didn't have it.

  9. Hang in there, Donna! You've got what it takes. You just need to find an agent who is the right fit for you.

    CONGRATS TO NANCY! :D

  10. Congrats on the personalized rejection. I'm sure you'll find the agent right for you.

My good new is that the response from my beta readers seems to be pretty consistent and I don't think I'll have to rewrite the whole book.

  12. I saw Nancy's Tweet this weekend - I'm sure she's thrilled :)

And I think you know my good news ...

  13. Donna, a rejection that includes asking for future projects is very encouraging. Don't give up. It's just a matter of finding the right reader/agent for your project.

And make hubs take you out to a really great restaurant that specializes in desserts when/if that next rejection comes in. :D

  14. Those are one of the best rejections. Because at then you know your writing is solid.

  16. Those kind of rejections are definitely encouraging. When an agent says that, I think he/she really means it! My good news is that my books should ship tomorrow! I can't wait to hold them in my hands. =)

  17. Nine rejections is nothing! Keep going, keep going...

  18. I never received a rejection like that. Your writing must rock to get that kind of personalized response. Just keep on going. There are 1000 doors out there, sure, but it only takes one (as Lisa Regan told me a hundred times.) 9 rejections is a tiny drop in a swimming pool--Olympic sized! Anyway, thank you so very much for your support & spreading my joyous news. My head is spinning right now. It's wonderful to have so many people happy for me. And like I said, if I can do it, anyone can! Just don't give up! Ever!!

  19. Rejections like that are pretty darn good compared to the standard form letters. I think I want to make a deal with my husband about going to dinner after a certain number of rejections!

  20. Good news for Nancy and good news for you, too!

How? I look at it this way, every rejection brings you closer to publication.

As Paulo Cohelo says, "When you conspire for something, the world world conspires with you to get it."

    Be encouraged!

  21. Try not to take the rejection personally and be glad that the agent is willing to look at more of your projects.

But that doesn't mean that some other agent won't love the one you've got.

A near miss is worth being excited about!

  22. So sorry on the rejection! But nice you get to go out to dinner! I'll go over and check Nancy's blog now.

  23. A personalized rejection is actually kind of inspiring. That means you were more than "form letter" worthy.

    That's a plus.

And only one more until hubby gets to take you out. Who knows, maybe instead of taking you out for that rejection promise, it could be for something more positive.

Thanks for sharing the good news about Nancy's book deal. That is awesome!

Only 9 rejections, psst that's nothing.

I like what Jeremy said. I love a conspiracy!
