The Winner is ... and Cutting Back

And the winner (of NOT my type) is ...
(I used random.org)

David Powers King

In the current state of the economy,
when I mention something like cutting back
you might think about
Finances

Or, perhaps

Seasoning

or maybe

Eating

Drinking

But, alas, no.
I'm speaking of

Blogging
I've never had an official schedule,
but I've tended to blog on
Mondays, Wednesday, and Fridays.
However, between now and
the end of the year
things are going to be a little crazy.

Things like
running an election

and

Yes, I know I was epic fail last year, but I'd like to try again.
and something trivial like

Getting WIP #1 ready for submitting

AND

Getting that draft Query Letter in shape.

So, I'm going to post only (mostly) on Fridays
until the end of the year,
and I will strive to check people's blogs
also on Fridays
and stay away the rest of the week.
I will do my Grammar Friday once a month.
And I will focus on completing
not only WIP #1
but my NaNo project.

I hope have confidence I will persevere.

Success seems to be largely a matter of hanging on
after others have let go.

Are you doing NaNo?

  1. Good luck on all your projects!

I've never done NaNo before, but I admire the people who can pull it off! I'm going to be revising, revising, revising--I'm nearing the end of a first draft.

  2. That's what I do in the summer usually, I take a long blog break and really focus on my writing projects. I'm not doing NaNo, but I enjoy cheering on those who do!

  3. Yeah for David! And no I'm not doing Nano I know I would totally die. Good luck!

  4. There's lots of popular blogs who only post once a week. I don't think it hurts at all. I need to cut back on all those things you have in your pictures LOL.

  5. Thanks for the update! I also really liked the bunny pic:)

  6. I've been cutting back too. Life is too busy right now. Good luck with getting your draft ready. And when you're ready, don't forget my offer :)

I'm not officially signing up for NaNo but I may use it as a discipline model for my current WiP.

  7. Love that last picture! That IS a lot of projects, and it totally makes sense to cut back on blogging for awhile. See you on Fridays!
Good luck on all those projects!

  8. Hey, you gotta do what you gotta do to make it all work. And the upcoming holidays aren't going to make it any easier. Once a week is doable.

And I scared the dog when I laughed out loud at that last picture.

  9. Blogging takes a lot of time so I can see why you need to cut back.

  10. Don't cut the money! Everthing else I can always sneak. That's cool that you're just doing Fridays. Things get hectic over here at the end of the year too. I'll still come see you. I loved the kitty. :)

  12. Congratulations to David!
I did NaNo last year and had to cut way back. I don't think I'll do it again, but I do need to work on my next book, so I might be cutting back as well.

  13. Congrats to David!

I'm planning to do NaNoWriMo. I want to finish my current WIP by November so I can begin a new draft, which I'm looking forward to.

  14. Best of luck with all your goals/work/projects!

  15. Smart idea. Writing should never be sacrified for blogging.

Nope on the NaNo. I could probably. But I'm not interested in doing it, especially since I'm going away on vacation during it.

  16. Thank you for stopping by today. It is nice to know that I'm not alone.

  17. Always a good idea to keep blogging under control and make sure it works for you, not the other way around.

    Good luck with NaNo!

  18. Take all the time you need, Donna. We'll still be here on Fridays, waiting for you. :)

I think I'm going to have to skip NaNoWriMo this year. My revisions have gained too much momentum to split my concentration now. (Or, technically, in a month.) *Sigh* I wanted to, though!

    Good luck!

    P.S. Congrats, David!

  20. I'm still on the fence with NaNo. I think I've got an idea that might work for it, so I'm leaning in that direction.

While I enjoy your blog, it has to take a back seat to all that other stuff. Good luck!

  21. I think it's wise to have a schedule and to pare back when needed! And holy cuteness I love that cat/lappy picture!

Good luck with everything you've got going and YES I'll be NaNoing!

  22. No NaNo here, but I totally get stepping back. It seems tho be the wave at the moment. We've all been wroking so hard at building that darn platform and now we're all burned out. BTW - did you read Rachelle Gardner's post today (10.03.11)? Crazy stats.

  23. Clearly, I know how it goes having to cut back on my blogging... no worries! I'll "see" you other places ~ :) And, undecided on Nano. I've got a few weeks, right? Best of luck on the WiP and Query!

  24. I hardly think those things are trivial Donna:) That's the whole reason we blog in the first place right? So good for you for letting the important stuff some first. Good luck on it all:)

  25. This made me chuckle, Donna! I love the pictures. Good luck with all you're doing and we'll see you here on Fridays.
