I Had a Baby!

 A book baby, of course. And it completes another series. 

Christmas at Kellworth is officially live. I'm a finisher, so it's a rush to say the Twickenham Full-Moon Ball series is complete. As I promised in For the Magic, Reese and Jem finally get their Victorian Christmas.

Reese and Jem Taylor are exactly where they want to be, celebrating the season with the friends who feel like family. But the Twickenham magic has followed them to Kellworth — and Christmas has a way of bringing things to the surface. Hopes that have waited decades. Hearts that are finally ready. Gifts no one thought to ask for.

The magic isn't finished yet. And neither is love.

And, now it's time to go back to writing another book.

Thought for the Week - June 19th

Got the last of my billionaire series off to my proofers, and I'm working on my next Twickenham time travel. I'm trying something different this month. I'm working on two projects at once. My goal each day is 2,000 words on the Twickenham and only 300 on a western novella set in 1905 Wyoming. It's been fun and provides a nice change. They're both historical, but the Twickenham is set in 1851 England and includes a little fae magic.

How am I feeling at the moment?

Not as stressed as I was a week ago!

Monday night, after a week of torment, iBooks finally pulled my pirated book from their site. As far as I know, all the authors whose books were pirated have been pulled.

Lessons learned from this experience:

1. If you aren't following yourself on BookBub, do so. That's how I found out my book was on iBooks.
2. Document the writing of your story as you go along--post little snippets on social media. This helps to document that you're the author because you have a "paper" trail, of sorts.
3. Introduce your characters over time to your followers, whether on social media or in your newsletter. Once again, it leaves a trail documenting your creation of the book.

I contacted iBooks and asked them what I could provide to help prove my case. I offered screen captures of the numbers 2 and 3 above. I also offered to provide them with a copy of the invoice for my cover, from my two editors, copies of the critiques from my critique partners, emails from my advance review team for the contest I held where they searched for typos, and the contract I have with a narrator to create the audiobook.

I also submitted the copyright paperwork for the book. I will be sure to do that from now on before release.

“You might want to consider hiring a new one then,” she said, “because I’m underwhelmed.” 

“Underwhelmed,” the Earl repeated. “I don’t believe I have heard that word before. Is it something you Americans invented?” 

“Yankee ingenuity,” she said.

“Yankee arrogance, I would say.” 

“Americans don’t have a monopoly on arrogance.” Reese kept her face forward.
