For instance, they can have favorite words and phases that aren't used by any other characters. They can either ramble or speak brusquely. They can have different slang and colloquialisms.

Identifying special traits for each makes the characterizations stand out. (This is such cool subject matter - I'm gonna use it in my next month's Horror newsletter for writing.com!)
Thanks! :-)Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07735576044552810103noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7281599665527326905.post-44709357789284931492013-04-19T17:15:05.719-06:002013-04-19T17:15:05.719-06:00Love the title...Indigo...:)Love the title...Indigo...:)Markhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01793077012143289985noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7281599665527326905.post-51799303215886675252013-04-19T10:33:26.914-06:002013-04-19T10:33:26.914-06:00Stealing features from real people around you and ...Stealing features from real people around you and giving them to the characters is one of best techniques to make unique ones since life and nature write the best of characters :) DEZMONDhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14127166104359407763noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7281599665527326905.post-84188350218670592532013-04-18T11:09:26.588-06:002013-04-18T11:09:26.588-06:00definitely important to have every character sound...definitely important to have every character sound different, especially when you have different POVs for your story.
Nutschell
www.thewritingnut.comnutschellhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10967710710805174781noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7281599665527326905.post-64620911362584638222013-04-18T10:12:19.274-06:002013-04-18T10:12:19.274-06:00I think making them consistent with the traits you...I think making them consistent with the traits you give them helps too. That gets me into the character's head. I remember that each character--not just the MC--- has a goal in the scene and each character thinks they're the hero of the story. Kaye P. While some of my scenes don't seem to move the story along, I'm trying to show a particular strength of a very flawed character.

Maybe I'm doing it wrong.farawayeyeshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17578277501054242356noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7281599665527326905.post-44172505117873141422013-04-17T06:37:31.466-06:002013-04-17T06:37:31.466-06:00The more stuff you give them the more unique they ...The more stuff you give them the more unique they will be.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01012743277899891860noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-7281599665527326905.post-76212542949558529192013-04-17T04:34:21.174-06:002013-04-17T04:34:21.174-06:00Sometimes I struggle with making my characters dif...Sometimes I struggle with making my characters different enough.
